Rocky Mountain Rendezvous

Sisters of the Rockies ~ Book 1

In 1837, Juniper Collins and her sisters are shocked by their father’s final request in his will for a special set of beads to be returned to a Piegan Blackfoot woman he credits with saving his life during his past travels west. Together, the sisters set out for the trapper rendezvous to find the woman, but their mission turns more daunting when they come upon the mass of men and lodges spread out in the Green River Valley.

Riley Turner came west to find peace and quiet and live off the land, but when four unprotected women arrive at the rendezvous, he feels compelled to help them and is more fascinated by Juniper than any other woman he’s known.

As their search brings only empty leads and dead ends, the sisters must decide whether to return east or stay in the mountains to continue looking —if the mystery woman is even still alive. But is the risk to honor their father’s last request worth the danger they find at every turn?

Discover the majesty—and treachery—of the Rocky Mountains in this unique combination of exhilarating adventure, inspiring faith, and sweet romance from USA Today bestselling author Misty M. Beller.

Rocky Mountain Rendezvous caught my attention because of the search for a Piegan woman, and I felt that the author did a great job of writing a historical novel that reflected attitudes of the time period, without stripping the Indian tribes of their dignity. I recognize that it can be very difficult for authors to write in a way that realistically reveals the past, when that past is so strongly overshadowed by prejudice, and I feel that Beller deftly navigates this tension.

What a start to this series! My goodness these four sisters had spunk. Can they find the Indian woman who helped their father so many years ago? Their search seemed endless and not successful, yet they didn't give up. Riley and Juniper are getting close but will anything come of it? Excitement abounds in this story... I think you all might enjoy this book, I sure have.

I really connected with Juniper and could appreciate her feeling of freedom. All four of the Collin sisters have a great relationship that is to be envied, and I hope they all get their own story, especially Lorelei.

The characters are awesome and I love the way they’re developed throughout the story. It’s clean enough that I wouldn’t have any problem with my kids reading, yet it contains enough grit to capture this 44 year old man’s attention. Can’t wait to see what the second book in the series holds.
